There were circa 450 fish ranging in size from 1/2lb to 5lb and a combination of species from Tench to Mirror Carp added into the Island/Fishing lake recently. They will also be adding a further 100 x 3lb carp into the lake and 2000 “Stockie” fish into the stocking pond to be added in to this lake next year.
Over a hundred 3-4lb carp were introduce to the Fishing/Island lake. Plus 2000 “stock carp” to the stocking lake which will then grow and be released into the Fishing/Island lake for the end of 2015 season once they have had chance to grow to approximately 1lb.
Some of these fish may still be caught during the remaining part of this season but will certainly make a difference to next years fishing season.
SIZE: 2 acres | PEGS: 5 | DEPTHS: 4-7ft
Tench to 8lb, Carp to 20lb, Rudd to 2lb, Roach to 2lb, Pike to 20lb, Perch to 3lb
Maggots and casters for the small fish and Luncheon meat, worms, sweetcorn and boillies for the Tench and Carp.
Float fishing close for the small fish and ledger and method feeder for the larger species. Pike are caught by spinning during the winter months.
Sit in one of the corner pegs and cast up the side of the bank underneath the trees. Red 10mm boillies is the top Tench bait on the Rudd Lake. If attacking the larger Rudd fish around a foot deep with a strung out rig.
SIZE: 14.5 acres | PEGS: 30 | DEPTHS: 5-9ft
Tench to 9lb, Carp to 27lb, Rudd to 2lb, Roach to 2lb, Pike to 25lb, Bream to 7lb, Barbel to 15lb, Eels to 5lb, Perch to 3lb
Large halibut pellets score well for the large bream and barbel and 15mm boillies work well for the Carp and Tench.
Distance ledgering with PVA bags is the method for the Carp and method feeder or convention open end feeder for the Bream and Tench. Pike are caught on dead baits during the winter months.
The fishing lake is quite weedy still, we recommend that pop up baits are used where possible. There are good fish in this lake, however, the fishing lake is challenging and must advise it is not a commercial fishery.
