Salmon & Trout AssociationCLA Game Fair
The CLA Game Fair is being held at Blenheim Palace this year from July 22nd-24th.  S&TA will be on Stand No: K0936 in the Fishing Village

S&TA's Issues - Trout & Grayling Strategy
We will be highlighting the many issues we are presently addressing, none more important than the EA's Trout & Grayling Strategy.  You will shortly receive an electronic questionnaire on the Strategy, asking for your perceptions as to its potential effectiveness, and whether the Strategy alone will give wild brown trout the protection they need.  We would welcome hearing from members on the stand as to how they perceive this topical and sometimes controversial Strategy.

Abstraction, diffuse pollution, hydropower, fish passage ...
We will be highlighting all the issues which cause fisheries habitat degradation, and S&TA's policies to counter them.  We believe these have the most important relevance as to whether wild trout can thrive in our rivers, or salmonids utilise all of a catchment's spawning and juvenile habitat.  Again, we look forward to hearing your views face to face.

Aquaculture Campaign
Guy Linley-Adams, the well-known environmental lawyer and campaigner, who has been appointed to lead the S&TA Aquaculture Campaign, will be giving two talks on Friday and on Saturday 10 am and 3pm, outlining the latest developments.  Everyone is welcome to come and listen and, of course, ask questions.

Launch of www.STAndupforwildsalmon.org
www.STAndupforwildsalmon.org is the S&TA’s new, dedicated website aimed at highlighting the fish farming issue, and will be officially launched at the Game Fair, although it is already on-line.  It is interactive, fast-moving and regularly updated – a valuable and dynamic resource for everyone concerned about the impact of salmon farming on the wild salmon and sea trout populations and the fragile aquatic environment on Scotland’s west coast, Western Isles, Orkney and Shetland.

Fulling Mill
Fulling Mill, the UK’s premier fly and fishing accessories company, which will have a major presence on the stand, and will be offering a “gift pack”, exclusive to the S&TA and worth £40.00, to every new member who joins the Association at this event.

As our annual membership is £40.00, this pound-for-pound offer is an  extremely generous one that we are sure will prove to be enormously attractive.  Fulling Mill’s flies and other products are of the highest quality, and they have been extremely generous in their support for our work in the past.  We look forward to welcoming them onto the S&TA stand at the Game Fair and to working alongside them for the benefit of anglers and everyone else with a passion for our aquatic environment.

BASS, FishPal and the Riverfly Partnership
We will also be hosting BASS, FishPal and the Riverfly Partnership on the S&TA stand.  BASS represent bass anglers, and we have a close interest in their work on intertidal and coastal fisheries management, habitat common to both marine and migratory salmonid species.  FishPal operates the excellent online booking and information system for all types of rod fishing in the UK and internationally, and has close links with S&TA.  And, of course, the Riverfly Partnership, which, although an independent organisation, operates under S&TA's charitable status and from our offices in Fishmongers' Hall, training anglers to monitor the water quality in their local rivers by regularly counting invertebrates, and also seeking to conserve aquatic inverts and their habitats.

Help S&TA recruit at the Game Fair!
By far the best way of recruiting new members to the S&TA is by word of mouth.  If you are attending the Game Fair with a friend who is not a member, please bring him or her down to the stand to talk to us, and encourage them to join the Association on the day.  They will receive a valuable merchandise bag from Fulling Mill to the value of their membership, together with a copy of the Pictorial Guide to Ephemeroptera, courtesy of the Riverfly Partnership - a total of some £55 worth of equipment and literature for a £40 membership subscription!
