15 year old who has only been fishing for 12 months lands an incredible 50lb catfish
Abigail Phillips is just 15 years old and has only been fishing for around 12 months, but yesterday she achieved something we certainly weren't expecting when she landed an incredible 50lb catfish, a new personal best and only the second catfish she has ever caught. Her first catfish was only a small "kitten", so jumping from that to a 50lb fish was quite an experience!
Abigail was fishing using a Parker Baits solid bag, under the tuition of Mark, a Parker Baits sponsored angler, when the catfish took.
What followed was around a 15-minute fight, with the fish giving Abigail a serious battle and at one point almost pulling her into the water! Despite only being 15 and still relatively new to fishing, she kept control of the fish and eventually managed to bring it in.
Abigail has absolutely fallen in love with fishing during her first year in the sport and is constantly looking forward to her next session. To go from being completely new to fishing 12 months ago to landing a 50lb catfish has given her even more enthusiasm for it.
