Tony Curd has a Carnival at Lakeview

Tony Curd, aged only 19 from Notting Hill, London has booked his place in the PartyPoker.com Fish ‘O’ Mania final following a close win at Lakeview Fishery on Saturday 14th April

Fish 'O' Mania 2009The youngster owes much of his win to a fast start, catching well from the margins bringing a substantial number of small carp into his keep net for the first 40 minutes. Fishing from match peg number 64 on Harbour Lake, Tony continued to catch steadily throughout the match finishing with a winning weight of 46lbs 4ozs. His net was made up of all carp, with a number of F1’s, with his biggest fish of the day being a 2lb carp.

Talking to Tony after the match he commented: “There has been a fair bit of excitement since Saturday. I am really looking forward to the final, and I will try and get down a bit for a couple of weekends and get some practice in before July.”

The match was incredibly tight with only two pounds separating first and fifth position. Second placed angler, and Fish ‘O’ Mania regular Shane Trower was only just behind Tony with 45lbs 8ozs. Fishing from peg number one on River, the Doncaster angler fished pellet on the far bank and in the margins catching all carp.

Third place was tied with Pemb Wrighting and Lee Thornton both finishing the match with 44lbs 12ozs. Pemb Wrighting who along with eventual winner Tony fishes for Milo Borden Dynamite Baits, fished from peg 63 Harbour Lake, next door to his teammate.

Fifth place fell to Andrew Meadows from Newhall in Derbyshire who finished the match with 44lbs 4ozs, again catching all carp however this time using maggots and caster as his bait of choice.
