The Angling Trust is delighted to announce that Daiwa Sports have confirmed they will be sponsoring the Angling Trust Schools National Championships in 2009.
The event is a team competition with five anglers in each team. This year we have 30 teams taking part a total of 150 youngsters fishing for £4,000 of equipment.
This Championship takes place on Wednesday 15th July 2009 at Daiwa Hallcroft Fishery, Hallcroft Road, Retford, Nottinghamshire, DN22 7RA. The competition is open to boys and girls, the age group is from Year 7 up to Year 11 (and under on the day of the event). The draw takes place at 8.30am with fishing for a duration of 4 hours.
Stephen McCaveny, Marketing Manager of Daiwa Sports Ltd, says “This event is now a firm favourite with a variety of schools and as a key brand within our sport we at Daiwa are keen to see such an initiative grow. This made the sponsorship of the national an easy decision and we are doubly happy that it is being hosted at Daiwa Hallcroft.
For angling to be embraced by schools is important for the credibility of the sport and we are determined to help the Angling Trust extend the opportunity for more young anglers to access or enjoy the values of angling in this way. Such a drive is in keeping with the Daiwa message ‘Think Clean’ which will be promoted at the event.”
Everyone who takes part will walk away with some gear including prizes for the top three teams, individuals and section winners. Daiwa’s top match consultants Sandra Scotthorne, Kieron Rich and current world champion Will Raison will all attend the event too.
Special thanks goes to Worksop & District AA for their continued support and for supplying stewards for the event.
