Been a good week at Newbarn Farm Paignton this week with plenty of fish caught on Mirror Lake. Kev Locke fished a night session from swim 9 and had a 13lb common out taken from mid water. Last Wednesday 6 fish came out in the space of an hour and half from all over the lake. Update: 1st October 2012Due to a major pollution incident on the Erewash Canal in Derbyshire the National Angling Match due to take place on the 13 October along this stretch of waterway will be postponed until 2013. A major fire broke out at the Stanton IronWorks site located alongside the canal in Stanton-by–Dale which has resulted in pollutants entering into the canal causing a sudden decline in oxygen levels. Luton AC offers fantastic fishing for most species with Carp to 37lb+, Tench 8lb+, Bream 10lb+, Chub 7lb+, Zander 16lb+, Pike near 30lb, Perch 3lb+ and Roach and Rudd over 2lb. Following the hot muggy weather, the recent cooler weather has seen carp catches improve significantly with both Temple and Old Lake starting to produce some excellent sport. Weather improves catches at Witton Castle Lakes What a beautiful week its been for anglers at Witton Castle Lakes, welcoming 92 anglers who enjoyed exciting sport on the fly. Easter Bream Bag up The bream in the Old Lake at Bury Hill are enjoying a spot of ‘T’ in the shape of small mesh pellet shaped bags commonly known to match and specimen anglers as T-Bags. Etang de Planchon’s second season kicked off to a flying start with 105 fish being caught totalling over 2500 lbs of fish. The lake record got broken twice and the first 40 graced the banks.
