Richie Hoskins became the second Ross-on-Wye match ace to qualifier for this year’s Grand Final of the Fish ‘O’ Mania to be fished on July 17th at North Staffordshire’s Cudmore Fisheries. Fish Legal has noted the admission by a spokesman for Dwr Cymru / Welsh Water, quoted in an article in the Daily Post that the Betws-y-Coed treatment works is “currently not up to its usual high standards”. Fish Legal has been alerted to a serious agricultural pollution that took place on 28th April on a tributary of the River Teifi. Slurry escaping from a farm on Wednesday evening poured into the Afon Cych, which feeds into the Teifi - known by anglers as the “Queen of Rivers” - at Abercych. High overnight temperatures and a warm, overcast breezy day really gave the competitors the best possible conditions to capitalise on their fishing at Woodlands View, near Droitwich on Wednesday in the fifth Fish ‘O’ Mania Qualifier. All lakes fished pretty well and this was best illustrated in the section results where 44lbs was the lowest weight to take one of the 13 ten peg sections.
