Makins Fishery at Bramcote, Nuneaton hosted the third qualifier of the 2014 Fish O Mania campaign on Wednesday 16th April. All the Phase 1 lakes plus Lagoon and Lizard on Phase 2 were in the draw bag and hopes for a good match were high. The first Fish ‘O’ Mania qualifier for 2014 took place on Saturday 5th April at Bait-tech Viaduct Fishery, Somerset. Competitors who have booked a ticket for the Angling Trust RiverFest qualifier at Evesham on Saturday 18th October should note that the venue has now had to be changed. This is due to the Evesham Rowing Club who will now be using the water for a big rowing competition on that date. The Angling Trust and the Countryside Alliance met with officials from the Welsh Government to highlight the risk to angling businesses from proposals which have been mooted by Welsh Ministers for open access to rivers in Wales. The Angling Trust has marked its five year anniversary by appointing 25 new Ambassadors to help promote its work and to encourage more anglers to join its growing membership. The Environment Agency (EA) has admitted that it has failed to follow its own procedures when investigating pollution incidents which cause fish kills. Fish Legal has criticised the EA about its pollution response several times over the past few years, but the Environment Agency had previously refused to accept this criticism.
