After a promising forecast for the 13th Fish ‘O’ Mania qualifier on Saturday 2nd June 2012, the weather took a turn for the worse as the draw took place leaving the anglers to face a cold, drizzly day, and this almost certainly affected the sport. Saturday May 19th saw the first meeting of recruits to the new Angling Trust/Environment Agency Volunteer Bailiff Scheme. With the unsettled weather still affecting sport the outcome of the Fish ‘O’ Mania qualifier at Peatling Lakes, Leicester on Wednesday 2nd May 2012 was always going to be uncertain. Many of the competitors fancied the larger lakes looking to catch big carp shallow, or in the margins. The weather forecast for the fourth Fish 'O' Mania qualifier at Woodlands View Fishery, Droitwich held on Wednesday 25th April 2012 had been grim at best. The Angling Trust is launching a new initiative to encourage more scouts to try fishing and get their angling badge by teaming up with its member clubs and fisheries to provide coaching to scout troops. The Environment Agency created the angling badge for the Scouts 3 years ago, and nearly 50,000 packs were requested by Scout troops.
