The Angling Development Board (ADB) has appointed two new members of staff, following new funding and support from the Environment Agency (EA) and has appointed a new Coaching Manager. These staff will grow the capacity of the organisation to deliver more participation in angling throughout the country. Further expansion is being planned. Environment Agency announces rod licence price freeze for three years. Anglers are celebrating this week following the news that rod licence prices will be frozen for the next two years. The Environment Agency has confirmed that the cost of a rod licence purchased between April 1 2012 and March 31 2014 will remain the same as this seasons prices, with an individual adult coarse license remaining at £27. The annual Angling Trust and Fish Legal Masters event was held at Mallory Park Fisheries, Leicestershire on Saturday 20th August 2011 supported by 16 industry and press teams. This is primarily a team event with 6 anglers in a team spread over the whole complex. Preston Innovations England Feeder Team Manager, Tom Pickering is looking for talented anglers to compete in a Feeder trial on Sunday 18th September 2011. The trial will take place on Lake One at Attenborough Gravel Pits, Nottinghamshire. Ticket money of £2.50 will be collected on the day. The Angling Trust is alarmed by indications from the Government that British Waterways (BW) may not be subject to the Environmental Information Regulations (2004) when it becomes a charity in 2012. BW is currently regarded as a "public authority" under the regulations, which require it to provide information to the public about the impact of its activities on the environment. Angling’s representative body, the Angling Trust, has met with the National Swan Convention (NSC) to draw up a joint programme of work to address the problem of discarded fishing tackle injuring swans and other birds. The NSC recorded 329 swans injured by fishing tackle in 2010 out of a total of 1,402 rescued birds. Other major causes included pollution, unidentified injuries and vandalism.
