Over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend of 27-30 May, Environment Agency officers caught a number of rod licence evaders when checking rod licences in targeted fisheries in the Midlands region, which are known to have a higher-than-average evasion rate. Fish Legal is considering legal action against Perth and Kinross Council after its Community Safety Committee rejected a proposal to introduce a bye-law restricting commercial rafting on the Upper Tay. Environment experts are springing into action to save hundreds of fish in a stretch of North Yorkshire river. Thousands of fish have been killed in a pollution incident on the tidal Thames in West London after nearly half a million tonnes of sewage poured into the river over the weekend. We are very sorry to report the death of Fred French MBE after a long illness on Sunday 15th May 2011 at 5.00 p.m. Fred had been a lifelong stalwart of angling from his early days in London, onto the River Lee and then into the North West.
