If past years are anything to go by, Bury Hill Fisheries fully expect to see some good catches reported during the first few weeks with zander expected to show particularly well whilst water temperatures remain stable before we head into the colder winter conditions, which is when the pike normally start to feed. Opening at 7am, our tackle shop has a good selection of predator end tackle and frozen bait which includes the full range of Bury Hill single hook…
FLE are pleased to announce that FLE is now fully open after being shut for 16 months so they could de-silt and make major improvements to the fishery. They now have 2 dedicated competition lakes which are also perfect for people to come down and catch loads of fish from. Canals 1 and 2 have been joined to create a new over 16's Carp Lake. This lake is quite tricky but holds 190 stunning carp. The Top Lake is now…
Following the coldest winters for a number of years, it was no surprise that it took a while for the carp to start to show. However, the last few weeks has seen plenty of early spring activity on Temple with the new stockies showing well together with a good number of 20's, 30's and even a 40lb. Below are a few of the bigger fish reported over the last few weeks. NEW TEMPLE MEMBER BANKS NEMO AT 40LB... The last…
The 2015 Maver Pairs fishing competition event witnessed eighty (80) anglers line the banks of Match, Specimen and Arena lakes. The event, which has now firmly established itself as one of Larford's main attractions within the venue's angling calendar, always produces a strong field with this year's event being no exception. Conditions were far from ideal with a band of high pressure to begin with bringing with it very hot and humid weather. Later on in the afternoon, thunderstorms from…
Following a very ‘start - stop’ spawning this year, the carp seem to be back on the feed BIG TIME with a number of thirties reported from Temple this week whilst anglers on the Old Lake have been reporting bumper hauls of up to 11 fish which has included a good number of 20’s. Whilst it has been relatively quiet angler wise over the past couple of weeks, those anglers who have continued fishing have been doing really well and…
Despite the continuing easterly winds, April continues to produce some cracking thirties from both Temple and the Old Lake. Interestingly, most of these fish have been caught during the day, whilst many have put on a huge amount of weight over the winter months and are now at record weights. Traditionally May is the month of the thirties, so expect to see more thirties reported over the coming weeks and possibly a few surprises with a couple of Temple’s fish…
Not one but two thirties grace the banks of Temple at Bury Hill Fisheries in as many days topped by a stunning linear, Nemo, which was caught at a whopping 39lb 8oz. Witnessed by Bury Hill bailiff Clive Elson, John Keatley was the lucky angler to catch Nemo on Monday 23rd. The bite came at around 9am and the fish was landed at a record weight of 39lb 8oz to give John a new PB. Fishing to the far margin…
With the arrival of spring, predator anglers at Bury Hill Fisheries in Surrey have seen a flurry of activity from both Pike and Zander which has included a number of double figure fish reported. One angler to also catch was Paul Hands, who followed last weeks 9lb 10oz Zed with a stunning fish weighing 10lb 3oz which he caught just as light was coming off the water. The Verulam AC Predator Day on Sunday saw members make the best of…
Twenty seven (27) anglers attended the 2015 Larford Silver Fish festival held on the Specimen lake. Fished over a four day period, freezing cold winds and torrential downpours made for difficult fishing for most with short pole or feeder being the only viable options. With fish shoaling tightly and moving from day to day, it proved a real challenge for most to get into any sort of rhythm with results varying massively from day to day. However, that said, some…

The 2013-2014 Larford Winter League series concluded on Sunday 26th January and, with that, two teams of four secured their invitation to fish one of the sport's most prestigious Team Championship events - the Mega 'Match This' Team Championship Final. The six round series was fiercely contested right the way through with four different teams topping the league throughout the campaign.
